To utilize 30+ years of cumulative professional art experience to serve the community through artistic expression. To meet the challenge of integrating fine ethnic art into the mainstream by depicting the lifestyles and attitudes of our ever changing diverse society. Creating opportunities through cultural enrichment projects while continuing to educate, enlighten and artistically documenting the issues that affect our global community through art.

1991- Featured on Tony's Travels, hosted by Tony Pagnotti WMAR-TV 2 highlighting artists and features some of his mentored students working at his south Baltimore studio.

1990-1993- Hosted "Studio 1117" an art instructional television program aired in Prince George's County and Washington, DC on cable access for Bowie State University. Six 30 minute shows giving an introduction to airbrushing, lettering, and caricatures shot at his downtown Baltimore studio.

Highlights

 

 

2008- Commissioned by Coppin State University-Helene Fuld School of Nursingto create a painting for installation in the Health & Human Services Building 

2007- Artwork titled "Spirit of Fatherhood" was featured on the set of the HBO series "The Wire".

2006- Co-founded the 1st Creative Quarantine featuring artists Larry Poncho Brown, Charles A. Bibbs, and Synthia Saint James where they isolated themselves created art the entire month of January culminating with an exhibition at the end.

2005- Received the “Key to the City” during the Roots & Heritage Festival, at City Hall in Lexington, Kentucky

2000- Melanin Graphics, Inc. celebrated the 10th Anniversary of sponsoring "The African American Youth Art Exhibition" an annual Black History Month event held for Baltimore City Schools since 1991.

1998- Emanuel Clever II, Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri proclaims February 27th as Larry “Poncho” Brown Day

1997- Selected as the Keynote Speaker for Commencement Exercises at his alma mater Carver Vocational - Technical High School.

1994- Selected as one of four featured African American artists to exhibit works at the Bahia Art and Jazz Festival in Bahia, Brazil.

1994- The work "Each One, Teach One" was commissioned for the Black History Month Celebration, Atlanta, GA commemorative poster.

1993- Artwork titled "Infinity" was purchased by The District of Columbia Superior Courts, and added to their personal collection.

1993- Artwork titled "Sidesteppin" was featured on the set of the HBO special "Laurel Avenue".

1993- Became one of the youngest inductees at the Carver Vocational - Technical High School "Hall of Fame" as a successful alumni.

1993- The work "Rejoice" was selected for the Eleventh Annual Artist's Salute to Black History Month commemorative poster.

1993- The works "Infinity" and "Legacy" were chosen for the set of the NBC show "Here and Now".

1992- Created portrait presented to Susan Taylor, editor of Essence Magazine.

1992- The works "Black Is Black", "Queen Nofretari", and "Queen Khamerernebty" chosen for the set of the hit NBC show "A Different World".

1991- The work "Legacy" commissioned for the "Kunta Kinte Festival" commemorative poster.

1989- Produced before and after illustrations of all the patients Dick Gregory's Health Resort in Fort Walton Beach, FL for a taping of 60 Minutes.
